Guinness PRO14 action returns with a bang this weekend with all four Welsh regions going head to head in what will be pivotal and entertaining encounters.
It is a trip to Swansea which is on the cards for John Mulvihill’s Blues as they look to climb the Conference B table.
Evans is looking forward to the clash.
“We are pretty confident despite our defeat at Pau last weekend,” he said. “In previous weeks we have started to build some momentum which has given us some confidence.
“That has been helped by the Wales boys coming back and we want to take that into the Christmas derbies and hopefully the surface at the Liberty Stadium will be pretty good.
“We are not sure yet what the conditions or weather is going to be like, but we will go into the game well prepared.”
The Ospreys are currently being coached by Carl Hogg and former Cardiff Blues assistant Matt Sherratt who works on his team’s attack in Swansea.
Evans was mentored by Sherratt as he came through at the Blues and the talented young pivot added: “I’m still in contact with Matt. It’s difficult for him with the circumstances going on at the Ospreys at the moment, but he knows us at the Blues inside out.
“He will have something planned for us I’m sure and to be honest I’m looking forward to seeing what it is. His knowledge and understanding of the game is very good.
“He’s one of the best coaches I’ve worked with.”
The Ospreys have won just once all season, but they have a good record against their Welsh rivals the Blues in the PRO14.
Head coach Mulvihill is bang up for the challenge and wants his team to have the same attitude.
Evans, who has three Test appearances with Wales to his name and was also involved in the uncapped win over the Barbarians in new head coach Wayne Pivac’s first game in charge last month, is looking forward to the trip down the M4.
“I believe we haven’t won down at the Liberty for something like 10 years so the boys are going to be motivated to try and change that,” Evans said.
“We have set the target of trying to get three wins from our Christmas derby matches. These games are almost like a trial for some of the players in terms of Wales selection.
“But you almost have to park that to do what’s best for the team and that’s what I’ll be doing for the Blues.”
