Wales’ world-record-holding Test points-scorer last played in the middle of January, and a torn calf muscle has sidelined him for another 10 days.
The Pontypridd fly-half has been out with a broken thumb, and was desperate to get some rugby under his belt in a friendly match against Llanharan on Wednesday night, but a scan revealed the injured calf and he was forced to sit out the match.
‘I can’t believe it,’ Jenkins said today. ‘I’m having a nightmare – it’s been nine weeks since I played.’
Ponty pay heavy price
Jenkins, a veteran of 87 Tests for Wales, is confident of being fit for Ponty’s Welsh Premiership match against Llanelli next Friday.
‘I think I’ll be okay for the Scarlets – I’m having further treatment on it today and we’ll know more then.’
