Forster Citing Rejected

An attempt by Neath-Swansea Ospreys to cite Gwent Dragons player Jason Forster following an alleged incident involving Luke Tait in the Celtic League match on Friday, 12 September, 2003, has been rejected by the Welsh Rugby Union for failing to meet the Celtic Rugby Tournament Regulations.

Any citing must be made in writing to the Chairman of that team’s own Union Disciplinary Committee within 24 hours of the conclusion of the match

The Neath-Swansea Ospreys attempted to cite Gwent Dragons flanker Jason Forster for a ‘cheap shot’ during their Celtic League clash at Rodney Parade on Friday night.

The Ospreys said the rugged Dragons backrower punched key lineout forward Luke Tait during the home side’s 29-19 victory, leaving the lock dazed after the match.
”We have cited Jason Forster,” Ospreys joint chief executive Mike Cuddy confirmed. ”We believe he caught Luke Tait in the face with a cheap shot.”
The Ospreys will check on Tait’s fitness ahead of their Celtic Cup match with Leinster at Donnybrook on Friday night. Another player who could struggle to make that clash is Dave Tiueti, who had to leave the field against the Dragons in the seventh minute with a leg injury.
Meanwhile, Ireland international Simon Easterby is to be made available for Saturday’s Celtic Cup tie with the Dragons.
Easterby has been with the Ireland World Cup squad in a training camp in Bilbao, but with coach Eddie O’Sullivan keen to give his players game time before they head to Australia, Easterby is set to make an appearance at Stradey Park.
It will be welcome news for Scarlets coach Gareth Jenkins, who will be without influential No 8 Scott Quinnell for the second clash with the Dragons in a fortnight.
Jenkins is waiting on a medical bulletin to determine the full damage to Quinnell’s neck after he suffered a heavy blow late in the 19-12 win over Munster on Friday night.
After being stretchered from the field, hospital scans revealed the former Wales skipper had bruised nerves to his neck and shoulder.
