New Zealand opened the Pool with a 70-7 beating of an under strength Italian team and ran in eleven tries in a performance that was almost a repeat of their meeting 16 years ago that was the first-ever match in World Cup history.
Iestyn Harris heads the Pool D scorers with his 16 points scored against Canada, while Gareth Thomas is now one try behind the Wales record of tries – 33 – set by former skipper and wing Ieuan Evans.

Harris himself has the target of 100 points for Wales looming as his total now rests on 94 from one try, 16 conversions and 19 penalty goals. However, Daniel Carter of New Zealand took his tally to 60 points in only four outings, while Doug Howlett took his try tally to 26 in 32 games and Joe Rockocoko moved to 13 in only eight matches.
