On the men’s side, Great Britain will be joined by USA and Ireland, with the women’s teams of France and Ireland competing alongside Great Britain. The unique format will see two games for each side per day, with points to be gained towards the final standings throughout the three days.
GB Sevens team leader Charlie Hayter said: “It’s a great chance for international sides to compete in the run up to Tokyo and before the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2021.
“We are thankful for the huge amount of work and collaboration by numerous stakeholders to make this event possible.
“For our squads to pull on a Great Britain shirt for the first time in a competitive tournament is a big step towards Tokyo. We are grateful to National Lottery players for supporting GB7s and helping to make this journey possible.”
Wales trio Luke Treharne, Morgan Williams and Luke Morgan are chasing spots in the GB 7s men’s team while Jasmine Joyce and Hannah Jones are in the frame to make the women’s squad.
The tournament will be played behind-closed-doors with the event streamed in full on England Rugby channels.
