Richie Pugh’s side is in prime position to return to the topflight in European sevens after finishing third in last week’s leg in Zagreb. Four teams will gain promotion to the Championship so promotion is within touching distance for the young squad.
This week they are in Pool C alongside Hungary, Denmark and Croatia. Pugh has made four changes to last week’s side with Benji Hoppe, Morgan Sienawski, Tom Brown and Steff Andrews coming in.
“It was always part of the plan to make some changes as it has been a busy few weeks for the boys,” said Pugh.
“Lloyd Lewis picked up a niggle last week and Jac Davies had to get back for an exam while we’ve also rested Owen Jenkins and Tom Williams so this weekend has presented us an opportunity to bring some new boys in.
“It’s good to being someone of Stef’s experience and it’s good to bring back Morgan and Tom who have been ticking over nicely.
“We’ll face new opposition in Denmark which provides another unknown as we don’t know what they’re about, but after beating Hungary and Denmark last week, the focus is still on us. We have to concentrate on doing the basics and make sure we are in a good position at the end of day one as we’ll face stiffer opposition on day two.”
