The event will begin at 11am and is open to all with the Scarlets urging people to wear any rugby jersey in honour of his legacy. Bennett, who sadly passed away last Sunday at the age of 72, is widely considered to be one of the greatest players ever to come out of Wales, and among the very best outside-halves in the history of the game.
The man from Felinfoel played a starring role in Llanelli’s legendary 9-3 victory over New Zealand at Stradey Park in 1972 with his captain Delme Thomas saying “It wasn’t Llanelli who beat the All Blacks, it was Phil Bennett who beat the All Blacks.”
He won 29 caps for Wales, and played a significant role in two British & Irish Lions tours to South Africa in 1974, and New Zealand in 1977. The Scarlets say the service will not be streamed in any format.
