Division One club Beddau were fully stretched by ” East club Abercynon before gaining the Cup at Poontypridd last night.
Beddau won 18-13, clinching victory with a penalty from centre Rhys Jenkins, the younger brother of Wales prop Gethin, in the closing minutes.
After scoring a 90-second try by Craig hughes, converted by Jenkins, Beddau conceded a try by Abercynon full back Huw Davies, but replied with a similar score from wing Gareth Hopkins and Gareth Jones added a drop goal.
Abercynon, who fielded the three Turner brothers – Gareth, Geraint and Matthew – scored through two of them, with Gareth grabbing a try and Matthew placing a penalty to make it 15-13, until the late Jenkins penalty ensured Beddau’s win.

Pontycymmer, the Division Four South-East champions, beat Nantymoel, the Division Three South-East runners-up, by 23-0 to lift the Cup at Ogmore Vale.
The winners, led by skipper and prop Christiaan (CORRECT) Jones, were too strong at forward and led 13-0 at the interval with outstanding young lock Rhys Garfield gaining both of their tries. Full-back Roy Pearce goaled both and landed a penalty hat-trick.
