Kevin Morgan gave Mike Ruddock a gentle reminder of his talents, collecting two tries for the Newport based side while Craig Warlow – making his first start of the season – added 18 points as the Dragons ran out 32-29 winners.
Leinster were also winners on Friday evening with Argentinean Felipe Contepomi making his mark with one of his side’s two tries and eight kicked points as they eased past Connacht 18-9, with the western province relying on the boot of Paul Warwick for all their points.
Friday’s third game saw Kenny Logan bag his first try on home turf since moving to Glasgow while Calvin Howarth was on fine form with the boot knocking over eight penalties as Glasgow Rugby inflicted more misery on The Borders.
However The Borders seem to have some regular company at the foot of the table this year with Ulster’s poor form – particularly at home – continuing.
This time it was Munster who came away from Ravenhill with the points – Paul Burke sending them on their way with 14 points to add to tries from Mossie Lawlor and Shaun Payne.
The weekend finished with Cardiff Blues leapfrogging Llanelli Scarlets in the table after their 14-10 win over their old rivals at the Arms Park. Lee Thomas was on the mark for the Blues with 3 penalties while Dean Dewdney collected their try.
