Ebbw Vale fly half Jason Williams was again his club’s hero as his four penalty goals, including a late effort, outgunned Newport by 17-15 at Eugene Cross Park, while Llanelli turned up the heat with a 44-8 mauling of Pontypridd as wingers Darren Daniel and Dan Gravell went over twice each with Ceiron Thomas kicking 14 points.
Cardiff had prop Nathan Llewellyn red-carded as they fell 31-15 at home to Swansea, for whom wing Nick Jones scored two tries and Luke Richards kicked 11 points, while Bedwas continued to drop home points as they went down 23-15 to Cross Keys, for whom hooker Gerwyn Price scored his first try.
Neath stormed away in the final quarter at the Gnoll to defeat bottom club Caerphilly 59-9 with nine tries including a hat-trick by No 8 Hywel Jenkins as the visitors scored three penalty goals by fly half Tommy Price.
A lack of front row forwards saw Newbridge fail to go to Carmarthen Quins and on Friday, Bridgend have pulled out of the match at Llandovery for the same reason.
