Hewett Signs for Scarlets

Llanelli have signed former All Blacks prop forward David Hewett from Canterbury Crusaders for two years.
Hewett, who won the last of his 22 caps in the Third-Place play-off against France at last year’s World Cup, is expected to arrive at Stradey Park next week until January.

He will return to the reigning Celtic League champions on a two-year deal next June when his contract with Super 12 outfit Crusaders comes to an end.

Scarlets Chief Executive Stuart Gallacher said: ‘David is a dynamic and experienced player and is equally at home on either side of the front row, we look forward to welcoming him to the squad.’

Hewett will not be eligible to play in any of the Scarlets remaining pool games in the Heineken Cup.
