Ioan Cunningham’s side will face the USA at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay on Saturday 30 September (KO 2:30pm).
Wales are sixth in the world rankings and qualified for the new WXV1 by finishing third in the 2023 Six Nations, with wins over Ireland, Scotland and Italy.
Wales will play world champions New Zealand, Australia and Canada in WXV1 in New Zealand. The top six teams in the world – Grand Slam champions England and France – will also feature in the tournament.
The USA Eagles missed out on qualification for WXV1 by finishing behind New Zealand, Canada and Australia in the 2023 Pac Four Series.
Wales’ last fixture against England at Cardiff Arms Park was a sell-out in the recent Six Nations and the USA clash in Colwyn Bay will allow Welsh supporters in North Wales a chance to see Hannah Jones’ side in action.
Cunningham, the Wales head coach, said: “The USA recently competed in the PAC Four and will have a point to prove. The opportunity to play the USA ahead of the challenge of the WXV in New Zealand was too good to miss.
“We are all looking forward and excited to be back together and to build on what we achieved in the Six Nations. The Welsh public’s support was a key part of our journey and will look forward to them supporting us again.
“Taking the game to Colwyn Bay is an exciting one because we know there is a real exciting pool of rugby talent emerging across North Wales.
“All the players, coaches and staff know we need to hit the ground running. We laid some solid foundations in the recent Six Nations campaign, but we need to keep improving and become an even better side.
“There is so much potential in this squad and we have shown we can score tries and compete with the likes of Grand Slam champions England and second-placed France.”
Wales will award full international caps for the Test match against USA.
