#ViveLeCymru and support Wales from home

The Welsh Rugby Union is leading the charge with #ViveLeCymru and asking all Wales supporters across the globe to adopt the campaign hashtag on all social media activity during the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

The plan is to amass a show of support for Wales senior men’s team and get behind Warren Gatland and his team of 33 players ahead of their campaign in France.

Wales have now landed in Bordeaux and are ready and raring to go ahead of their first match against Fiji on Sunday 10th September and here is how supporters can get involved and support team Wales from home!

The WRU is running a series of competitions encouraging schools, rugby clubs and the general public across the country to share their ‘Pob lwc Cymru’ messages across social media to be in with a chance to win a signed jersey.

Supporters are encouraged to upload a video or photograph of their good luck message to any social media channel and, to be in with a chance of winning a signed jersey, follow and tag @welshrugbyunion and use the hashtags #PobLwcCymru and #ViveLeCymru in their posts. The ‘good luck competition’ will run until 10th September.

For rugby clubs across Wales, it’s all about decorating clubhouses. Clubs will need to upload their favorite videos or images or their ‘Team Wales’ decorated spaces to social media tagging in the @welshrugbyunion and @wru_community with the hashtags #allezlesrouge and #clwbagwlad.

Primary schools in Wales currently signed up to the WRU Digital Classroom are also in with a chance of winning tickets to the upcoming Barbarians match and a signed jersey for their school. Teachers along with their pupils will need to create a display or decorate their classroom showing their support for Wales using only recycled materials.

Teachers will then need to email images of their ‘Wales’ decorated classrooms to marketing@wru.wales along with their school and class details Both the club and the schools competition run until midnight on the 20th September.

Jac Morgan, Wales’ senior men’s co-captain said, “We know the whole of Wales is behind us, but it’s always good to hear support and words of encouragement so this is a great initiative.

“I’m really looking forward to reading some of the messages and I know the rest of the squad will also welcome the support.

We have some of the best supporters in the world game in Wales and it will be great to hear from them.”

The WRU is also giving away free supporter packs for children. Each pack contains posters games, match planner, stickers, cut out player masks and more. Packs are available on a first-come-first-served basis, and there’s only 1,000 available, so sign up now at www.wru.wales/rugbyworldcup2023 to be in with a chance of getting your hands on one.

In addition, the WRU has collaborated with Welsh rap band, GWCCI, on a new rugby anthem ahead of the rugby world cup.

The song entitled, “I’R GÂD”, which launched this morning exclusively on BBC Radio Wales, is a heartfelt tribute to Welsh culture, the nation’s rugby heritage, and to the enduring pride of the Welsh people. Roughly translated as ‘to the fray’ or ‘to battle’, “I’R GÂD” is a contemporary anthem for a new generation of rugby fans and is being promoted in partnership with the WRU.

Rugby supporters can hear the new track and watch the WRU’s music video via WRU’s YouTube channel
