Henson was left out of the side as Head Coach Sir Clive Woodward opted for three of his Rugby World Cup winning side from two years ago, but Henson proved his worth at Rugby Park with a brace of excellent tries as the Lions won for the fifth time in six games in New Zealand.
“I am disapponted not to be involved, but I am enjoying my rugby and hope to get my chance later in the tour,” he said. “I feel as though I am good enough to be in the side, but for now I will be supporting the rest of the boys and hoping they win on Saturday. Tonight’s game was important because we wanted to keep the momentum going ahead of the weekend.”
Henson scored after fifteen minutes of the first half and added a second late in the game. He added: “I love playing rugby and am happy we won.”
