Lloyd and Morgan cement top spots in SRC

Ebbw Vale’s Lloyd has a two point lead at the top of the points scoring stakes with 66 points, with RGC left footer Billy McBryde breathing down his neck on 64.

Swansea’s Josh Phillips is in fourth place with 55 points but he currently boasts the best percentage when it comes to accuracy with an impressive 91% success rate.

The hookers’ union is doing itself proud with Morgan top of the pile after adding another try to his tally in his side’s narrow defeat to RGC last weekend. He now has eight tries next to his name with his nearest challengers being fellow hooker Joe Franchi, who benefitted from an Ebbw Vale hat-trick against Bridgend, and Cardiff winger Tom Bowen who both have six tries.

It hasn’t taken Ethan Fackrell long to hit his stride after a lengthy time on the sidelines with injury. The former Wales U20 flanker was a regular in a number of categories previously before an injury against Newport last season in Bedwas kept him out of the game.

The RGC back row has made 73 tackles since his comeback, edging out Carmarthen Quins’ consistent performer Lewys Millin who has made two tackles less, while Dan Owen (70) makes it two north Walians inside the top three contenders.

Their RGC colleague Afon Bagshaw also deserves a pat on the back, with the full-back having the most ‘post tackle’ involvements (tackle and turnover action) with 14, edging out Pontypool duo Sam Scarfe and Patric Lewis who have made 12 apiece.
