INVESCO PERPETUAL SERIES MEDICAL REPORT, ISSUE 2

Wales physio Mark Davies was optimistic today about the chances of recovery for Chris Horsman, Dafydd Jones and Kevin Morgan ahead of the Invesco Perpetual Series clash with South Africa at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
All three players left the field with ankle injuries during Wales’ 11-10 victory over Fiji last Friday night. Horsman and Morgan both aggravated old problems and Dafydd Jones caught his foot in a ruck and sustained a sprain
“All are responding and are subject to three are yet to be declared either fit or unfit,” said Davies.
“Chris’s injury has settled down early and he has been able to resume training, which is a positive sign in terms of him playing at the weekend.
“We want a scan and further investigation on both Dafydd’s and Kevin’s ankles, but we have not closed the door on either of them at this stage. Dafydd in particular has picked up considerably after the initial prognosis had not looked good on Friday night.”
Morgan will undergo a scan tonight (Monday) and Jones will follow tomorrow. As a consequence coach Mike Ruddock has delayed his scheduled team announcement until Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Wales and Ospreys second row Brent Cockbain had an operation to re-attach the hamstring on his right leg to its point of origin on Sunday night.
“Brent has undergone surgery after being forced to leave the field on a stretcher against Fiji,” added Davies.
“The hamstring has been successfully re-attached and he is recovering well.
“He should be out of action for a minimum of 6 months, but we all wish him a speedy return.”
