PRINCIPALITY PREMIERSHIP PREVIEW

The Wizards front up to Llanelli on the back of a 20-16 victory over Carmarthen Quins last weekend.

Outside-half Jamie Davies bagged ten points to keep his side’s season on track although Welsh Cup holders Llanelli were not so lucky.

The Scarlets were outclassed at home by a rampant Neath outfit who grabbed eight tries in a 58-13 mauling.

Aberavon are level on points with Neath, who play Carmarthen Quins on Thursday and will be hoping for a win to test the nerve of the reigning champions.

Maesteg clash with near-neighbours Swansea with the sides level on points after just three wins apiece this term.

The Old Parish recorded their third victory of the season with a 36-27 win over bottom-placed Llandovery last Saturday.

Outside-half James Dixon converted five penalties and three conversions as Maesteg overcame a 20-13 half-time deficit to leave the Drovers three points adrift at the foot of the table.

And Swansea produced one of the results of the season so far as they stunned high-flyers Bridgend 42-17 last weekend to set up an interesting game this Friday.

Cross Keys make the trip to the Memorial Ground to face Glamorgan Wanderers with both sides having lost their last games.

The Keys are six points ahead of the Wanderers in the league but have fallen from the leading pack in recent weeks.

Meanwhile the Wanderers have been propelled up the table with a recent run of fine results and would love to add the scalp of Cross Keys.

Newport welcome Bedwas to Rodney Parade as they seek to keep in touch with the league’s top flyers.

The Black and Ambers are six points below the league’s high flyers and need a win but Bedwas will not be an easy game as they proved with a 25-6 humbling of Cross Keys in their last outing.

Bridgend travel to Llandovery having fallen off the pace at the top of the table thanks to a 42-17 defeat at the hands of local rivals Swansea last weekend.

The Ravens had been in fine form but recent results have been less than convincing and they now find themselves in fourth place.

Elsewhere, Ebbw Vale front up to Pontypridd, Cardiff travel to Pontypool and in the only game to be played on Thursday, Neath play host to Carmarthen Quins at the Gnoll.
