“The only injury of note was to Gareth Thomas, who was able to return to the field against South Africa after doctors treated a laceration to his lower eye-lid. He is healing nicely and will be available to play.” However, Kevin Morgan, Dafydd Jones and Luke Charteris, who all withdrew during the build up to the Springbok game have experienced mixed fortunes on the treatment table.
“Kevin will not be available this weekend and we now know he will need a couple of weeks for his ankle to fully recover,” added Davies. “Luke is nursing a calf injury and currently looks doubtful, but we will continue to monitor his situation closely.
“Dafydd will be out of contention and has been told to rest for another three to four weeks.”
The Invesco Perpetual Series medical report can also confirm long term injury victims Brent Cockbain and Dwayne Peel are progressing their rehabilitation. Peel has started early rehab after resting his ankle for the last few weeks and Cockbain is walking on crutches after a successful operation to re-attach his hamstring. Ryan Jones is due to undergo surgery to resolve a shoulder injury and is likely to remain unavailable for up to six months.
