PEEL COMMITS FUTURE TO SCARLETS
Delighted to have secured a further two seasons contract, Dwayne said: “I’m delighted to re-sign for the Scarlets. Naturally the interest from other clubs has been flattering but I don’t think clubs come any bigger than this one both in terms of tradition and ambition”.
“I’ve grown up here and it’s special. We’re entering a really exciting time now and we’ve got the makings of a great squad and we’re also moving to a new purpose built stadium complex in 18 months time”.
Scarlets Chief Executive Stuart Gallacher added: “Without a shadow of a doubt Dwayne has proved that he is a world class player, with his performances in Wales’ Six Nations campaign and the British and Irish Lions tour this summer having been outstanding”.
“We are delighted that he has committed to the region until the end of the 2008 season. He is a product of the Scarlets and we are excited about his future with the region”.
Dwayne’s commitment is only one in a number of successful re-signings this week at Stradey Park. Mark Jones, Garan Evans, Gareth Bowen, Gavin Thomas, Aled Gravelle and Jonathan Mills have all re-stamped their commitment to the region.
“These re-signings, along with the ones we made earlier this season, give us the nucleus of a strong squad to move forward into our new home” says Stuart Gallacher. “It’s particularly pleasing that these players are excited about our future prospects”.
