BLUES FANS WELCOME LOMU

Lomu, who had not played competitive rugby for three years before last week’s outing in Italy, helped to attract 11,764 fans to Cardiff Arms Park, the biggest crowd at that ground for five years. Lomu signed autographs on his way to the tunnel, and then went on to say how he is satisfied with how his season is developing.

The fans turned up in force to see his home debut, and Lomu said: “I didn’t feel any added pressure because of the crowd today. It should be uplifting when you have that sort of support. I am confident in what I’ve got. I am growing each week, although today wasn’t my day to open up. I feel as though I am going in the right direction. Sometimes, the ball goes your way and sometimes it doesn’t. I have got to make sure I do what is best for the team.”

The Blues’s victory means they are guaranteed to reach the quarter-finals if they win their remaining Heineken games against Perpignan and Leeds, with Perpignan next up at the Arms Park on 14th January.
