In Division Three East, Abergavenny’s hard-fought 14-8 win at third-placed Fairwater has put them in the box-seat for the title. Abergavenny now lead Senghenydd by six points on the table, despite playing two fewer games. Bottom-placed Risca rattled up 29 points on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough for their first win of the season as Old Illtydians scored 45.
Treherbert lead Division Three South-East after a nail-biting 15-13 win at home to Treorchy, but they have played three more games than second-placed Ynysybwl, who beat Pencoed 24-15.
Division Four East continues to be one of the most closely fought divisions in the League, with Garndiffaith, St Peters, Newport HSOB and Tredegar Ironsides all in the mix, and Trinant and Talywain knocking on the door. Garndiffaith edged past Nantyglo 29-27 thanks to a last-minute try to winger Aaron Bainton and St Peters beat rivals Newport HSOB 14-10.
In Division Four South-East, Dinas Powys’ miserable season reached an all-time low with a 125-0 loss to front-runners Penallta. Dinas have now lost 57 of their last 62 games in the past three seasons. Penallta’s huge win moves them ahead of Penarth (10-0 winners at Dowlais), with two games in hand.
Division Five East is a two-horse race, with Machen’s 59-12 hammering of Caldicot giving them 12 straight wins for the season, and Blaenavon’s 37-8 home win over St Albans giving them 12 wins from 14 matches. Right winger Dai Reed scored a hat-trick in Machen’s win. At the other end of the table, RTB Ebbw Vale lost 48-10 at Usk to go 15 matches without a point.
In Division Five South-East, leaders Porth look unbeatable in the title race after their 86-0 mauling of Deri moved them 11 points clear at the top. Second-placed Cefn Coed were held to a thrilling 34-all draw at fourth-placed side Rhiwbina.
