In the Principality Premiership, Newport play host to an Ebbw Vale outfit still looking for points to confirm their top-flight status next season. The Steelmen will be buoyed by their recent 52-25 hammering of Pontypool but know a similar result is unlikely on Saturday.

At Bridge Field, Bedwas take on Glamorgan Wanderers in a game pitting ninth against tenth in the table and Premiership veterans against top-flight newcomers. While Bedwas are six points clear of Glamorgan Wanderers, the side that were playing Division One rugby this time last year have proven that they plan to stay in the Premiership. With notable victories this season over Aberavon, Swansea , Llandovery and tomorrow’s opponents, the Wanderers look good value for their league position.

Bedwas will be keen to end the season on as high a note as possible and a win against their visitors on Saturday would be an ideal way to begin. The Wanderers, however, will take heart from December’s victory and approach this game full of confidence with nothing to lose.

Basement-dwellers Pontypool entertain mid-table Cross Keys in a game crucial to Pooler’s top-flight survival. Three points could be enough to lift Pontypool off the bottom of the table if other results go their way, but a defeat would cast serious doubt over the club’s Premiership future.

At Church Bank Llandovery go head-to-head with Swansea, with the Drovers deep in relegation trouble and the All Whites flying high in seventh. The Drovers need all the points they can get at this stage in the season and a win could take them clear of the drop zone and plunge fellow strugglers Carmarthen into trouble.

Swansea meanwhile, are assured of their place in the top flight next year but will fight for every point as they seek to finish the season as high in the table as possible.

Elsewhere Carmarthen Quins travel to Stradey Park on Sunday to front up to Konica Minolta Cup holders Llanelli with three points a necessity. The Quins are dangerously close to the relegation quagmire and need a win to avoid being sucked in.
