One Game. Two Pathways. One Volunteer Workforce.
Volunteering in Welsh rugby is broad and varied. To ensure every volunteer receives the right support, opportunities are structured across two key areas:
On-Field and Off-Field volunteering.
Together, these roles connect what happens on the pitch with everything that supports it behind the scenes.
On-field volunteers deliver the game. They create safe, enjoyable, and inclusive rugby experiences for all.
Roles include:
On-field volunteers are supported through specialist WRU departments, providing training, development and guidance to help them grow and succeed.
They are the leaders, role models, and guardians of the game on the field.
Off-field volunteers are the backbone of every club. Ensuring everything runs smoothly beyond the pitch.
Roles include:
Off-field volunteers are supported by the WRU Club Development team, providing tools, guidance and resources to strengthen clubs and support volunteers.
They are the organisers, leaders and enablers who keep Welsh rugby moving forward.
