Alix Popham
Alix Popham made his debut as a replacement against Australia in the 2003 test. He has represented Wales A, captained Wales U21 and was first called into the national squad in 2000 for the Lloyds TSB Six Nations clash against Scotland.
Domestically, Popham plays for the Llanelli Scarlets, having moved from Leeds Tykes during the summer of 2005 following their relegation from the English Premiership. He started his club career at Newport.
Popham was a mainstay of the Scarlets' side throughout the 2006–2007 season; he appeared on 22 occasions and scored one try against Ulster in the region's Heineken Cup campaign.
Popham toured North America with Wales in the summer of 2005 where he was a scorer against Canada. He started against France in the 2006 RBS Six Nations, which was followed with consecutive starts on the 2006 summer tour of Argentina.
Popham was named in Gareth Jenkins's Wales squad ahead of the 2006 Invesco Perpetual Series. He played in the victory over the Pacific Islands and appeared as a second-half replacement in the series finale with the All Blacks.
He represented Wales in every match of the 2007 RBS Six Nations, scoring a try against eventual championship winners France in Paris. Popham was rested from the two-Test tour of Australia in May but in June was named as part of Wales's 41-man preliminary Rugby World Cup 2007 summer training squad. August saw Popham appear as a replacement against England, make the final cut for the 30-man RWC squad and play in both matches of the Invesco Perpetual Summer Series.
Popham appeared in all four of Wales's Pool B matches at the Rugby World Cup, making a substitute appearance against Australia at the Millennium Stadium and scoring a try in the final match against Fiji in Nantes.
In November 2007 Popham was selected by Wales Caretaker Coach Nigel Davies as part of the 22 to face South Africa in the inaugural Prince William Cup match; he came off the bench as a second half replacement in Wales's defeat at the hands of the reigning world champions.
Popham was included in Warren Gatland's RBS Six Nations Squad in January 2008, and made one replacement appearance in the clash against England at Twickenham.
