Rhys came in to face England at short notice in the pre-World Cup warm-up games and his form saw him establish himself as first choice No. 10 for the RWC 2011.
He continued that success with a strong performance against Ireland in the first game of the RBS 6 Nations Championship in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, retaining his starting berth in all five Tests, and for a further three games in the 2012 Dove Men series. However, injury then ruled him out of the RBS 6 Nations in 2013.
