The reigning champions crashed to an opening day defeat to Benetton Treviso in Northern Italy last week.
But they will return to the Liberty Stadium tomorrow and Jones reckons it’s “time to deliver”.
“We are very happy and really pleased with the way that our fans have shown their support by taking up so many season tickets for the new season,” said Jones.
“We would never be arrogant enough to think that we deserve such support so it’s really satisfying that the figure is so high ahead of the new season.
“It’s time for us to deliver now. It’s the first competitive home game of the season against Ulster, who were Heineken Cup finalists just a few months ago, so we’re up against a high calibre outfit. It’s a case of going out there on Saturday and playing for the jersey and the supporters who have backed us so well.”
The Ospreys will be able to take confidence from that fact that the home side has won the last four encounters between the two sides.
But he is more than aware that major improvement from last week is neccessary.
“We need to improve in all areas from the Treviso game, we know that. We weren’t happy with the result last week even if there were vast improvements in the way we played in the second half.
“We controlled the game after the break, had all the possession, we just couldn’t cross the whitewash and capitalise on the improvements that we did make.
“We have to approach the game in the right manner now, and make sure that every aspect of our game is spot on.”
Both Jones and Rhys Webb are set to start for the Ospreys and the scrum-half is aiming to impress as he bids to secure further international honours.
The 23-year-old made his Wales debut against Italy in the Six Nations and made toured Australia in the summer.
Webb played second-fiddle to Mike Phillips during the tour but he is hoping to enhance his claims for the Welsh scrum-half jersey with the Ospreys.
“I want to try and nail down the jersey at the Ospreys first, but one of my aims is to push for the autumn internationals,” said Webb.
“It was a great experience for me to be out in Australia. Obviously I didn’t really feel like I had long enough to get in the full swing of things.”
