Phillips suffered a fractured cheekbone early on in the win over Zebre at the start of the month, but has now recovered and will bolster the Scarlets ranks for the clash at The Sportsground.
Head Coach Wayne Pivac is also confident Regan King will start. The two-time Scarlet hasn’t featured since the opening game of the season against Ulster and was withdrawn just before the start of last weekend’s win over Glasgow amid fears over his hamstring problem.
“The conditions were wet and cold and he had also felt his hamstring on the Friday so we decided it was the best decision not to risk him last weekend,” explained Pivac.
“It was a joint decision by the coaching team, the medical staff and the player and I think it was a smart move.
“We just felt playing in centre in those conditions he wasn’t going to get a lot of the play and the risk to the hamstring cooling down and that sort of thing was too great.
“He hasn’t felt his hamstring this week and has come through the week really well. Unless something drastic happens he will be starting on Saturday.”
Scarlets must become the first team to claim victory at the Galway ground if they are to continue a run that has seen them lose just once in their last six league matches.
They claimed the scalp of Glasgow last time out and have won their last five encounters with Connacht since their 11-13 reversal at the Sportsground in September 2011.
The Irish side have tied down three senior stars on new contracts this week. Darragh Leader and Denis Buckley followed Niyi Adeolokun in signing extensions to their current deals.
