The Scarlets went down fighting in Europe last week when they slipped to a 40-23 defeat to Leicester Tigers at Welford Road. In contrast, Toulon were the first team to advance from the pool stage – but this is far from dead rubber.
The Scarlets have only lost once in the PRO12 and Europe since the start of 2014, and they will not be giving that record up without a fight.
The clash has come too soon for Liam Williams who is still sidelined with a shoulder injury. Scarlets are still without six of their front row players in Phil John, Ken Owens, Emyr Phillips, Kirby Myhill, Samson Lee and Rhodri Jones with lock Johan Snyman and Jake Ball also unavailable due to injury.
Outside half Rhys Priestland, who last week became the region’s highest points scorer, will make his 150th appearance for the Scarlets on Saturday with loosehead prop Rob Evans making his 50th regional appearance.
Pivac said: “We’ve got Toulon coming here on the weekend, they’re a great team. We want to put up one hell of a battle. We’ve got something that we’re trying to hold on to a home stretch going at the moment. The boys are very keen to do well.

“If we can have a defensive effort like the game away to Toulon this Saturday we’ll be very happy, we’ll need to defend well again this weekend. We want to play a bit of rugby this weekend.
Â
“We want to play our part in what will hopefully be a spectacular game of footy.
Â
“For us now we want to go out with a bang in the tournament and we’re looking forward to Saturday and putting ourselves up against the best again.”
