The Blues will be desperate to record a home win after suffering a narrow 6-9 defeat to the Scarlets last Friday in a dour derby encounter while the Dragons will be looking to build on last week’s romp against Mogliano.
Blues boss Phil Davies, who has seen his side lose seven times in 11 games, is aiming to move up the points table as his side are two places ahead of their Welsh rivals in ninth place.
“We’ve got to win that. It’s a massive, massive game. We’ve had a tough few games, which we’ve enjoyed and we’ve put our shoulder to the grindstone and we’ve got to keep doing that,” he said.
“We want to win that game [against the Dragons] and finish the year on a positive note, then move forward into 2013 and hopefully give the fans more to shout about and a few more wins to celebrate.
“We’ve just got to keep working harder and try and be smarter and grind out some wins. We’re getting more competent in every area of the game. Our defence is improving, it was pretty good against the Scarlets [and our] set-piece is getting there.”
The Dragons haven’t played since demolishing Mogliano 53-3 on 16 December in the Amlin Challenge Cup on 16 December.
