The British Lions back-row emerged as a doubt for Wales summer tour of South Africa after the Ospreys confirmed he would need surgery on an ‘on-going shoulder problem’.
But the man from Trebanos is fit to face-off against the Dragons, despite the problem which he picked up playing for Wales in this year’s Six Nations Championship.
Head coach Steve Tandy said: “We know what the Dragons will bring on Sunday and with it being a derby game at the Millennium, the message will be very much that the boys need to stay grounded, forget about everything that is going around them, and focus on the job in hand.
“They can’t afford to get distracted, for us it’s about getting and getting the job done.
“They set the benchmark against Leinster and they mustn’t fall below that, they’ve got to keep on striving to improve.
“If they do that, then we could extend our season into the play-offs, and beyond that, go into the new season positively.”
Lyn Jones’ has made six changes to his Dragons team that suffered a 45-27 away defeat to Treviso last time out.
There are three in the backs and three in the forwards, Will Harries, Richie Rees and Kris Burton come in for Dan Evans, Wayne Evans and Jason Tovey while T Rhys Thomas, Andrew Coombs and Natani Talei replace Elliot Dee, Cory Hill and Nic Cudd.
Head coach Jones said: “There is so much good about our game but we gifted Treviso 45 points last weekend and there is a culture here that when you go behind that’s it.
“We have been working hard all season to change that but have slipped back into having negative thoughts recently and that’s not good enough. We need to change the way that people go about their business.”
