They grabbed their bonus point try with 10 minutes to go when Irish outside half Jonathan Sexton chipped to the corner with his first touch for Dave Kearney to score. Kearney added a fifth try from the re-start to emphasise the difference in class on the night.
With the strong wind at their backs in the opening half the Blues were still in touch at the break at 13-9, thanks to three penalties from outside half Ceri Sweeney. Fergus McFadden knocked over two in response and also converted Isaac Boss’ close range try.
McFadden hoisted his night’s tally to 16 points with another penalty, drop goal and extra conversion in the second half as all the pressure came from the home side.
Prop Nathan White raced 20 metres to score the second try and then Ian Madigan took the direct route to cross. That left Kearney to wrap up the bonus point, take a second before replacement No 8 Leo Auva’a bashed his way over to raise the half century.
Sexton’s conversion made it 39 unanswered points for the Heineken Cup champions in a totally one-sided 40 minutes.
