The Blues had remained in touch with their hosts until the hour mark, when a penalty try turned the course of the game on its head. Suddenly, from being six points behind the Welsh region went on to lose by 41 points.
Munster outside half JJ Hanrahan converted all six home tries and ended with a match tally of 24 points from 10 successful kicks at goal. The Blues scored a try through Wales centre Owen Williams in the first-half and outside half Gareth Davies kicked eight points.
Replacement prop Pat Palmer saw yellow in the second half and that started the rot for the visitors, who now find themselves in ninth place in the PRO12 and two points adrift of their nearest Welsh rivals.
