The Blues scored the only tries of the game through Casey Laula and Bradley Davies while Connacht’s points came from the boot of fly-half Ian Keatley.
It was the hosts who controlled the opening excahnges at the Sportsground and they went into the break with a two point lead thanks to four penalties from Keatley.
The Blues scored the only try of the first half through former All Black Casey Laula who out paced the covering defence to score. Five points from the boot of Dan Parks took the scores to 12 v 10 half-time.
The Welsh side dominated the second period and Parks opened the scoring with a penalty, before he kicked two more to stretch his side’s lead.
The Blues controlled the game from here on in and Wales lock Bradley Davies scored a late try which Parks converted to give the Blues the victory they deserved.
