The Welsh side were made to work hard for the win by a spirited Aironi side who were looking for second successive win at home.
And it was the Italian’s who started the brighter with Sinoti Sinoti crossing for the games opening try after two minutes. The visitors reply though was immediate with Dafydd Hewitt touching down and Ceri Sweeney adding the extras to give the Blues a 7 v 5 lead.
Sweeney and opposite number Naas Olivier exchanged penalties before the Welsh International added a second to stretch his side’s lead.
Czekaj then scored the first of his two tries which was converted by Sweeney and Olivier kicked a further three points for his side just before the break.
After the interval Nick Williams and Xavier Rush both touched down for early tries for their respecitve sides but it was Aironi who scored next with Gilberto Pavan helping himself to a try.
Again Aironi were off target with the conversion, a problem which bugged the Italian side throughout the game as they missed 11 points in total.
Number 8 Williams crossed again for the hosts to set up a tense finish but in the game’s final move Czekaj scored his second securing the bonus point.
