In much the same way as he had done in the PRO12 final on the same ground two years ago, Biggar kicked the vital goal to make the Irishmen pay for not making the most of their early dominance.
The Welsh side were over run in the opening 30 minutes and conceded two tries to international hooker Richardt Strauss and wing Dave Kearney. Jimmy Gopperth’s boot made it 16-6 and then 19-6, but Biggar kept his side in the hunt with four first-half penalties.
From 19-12 at the break the Ospreys then exploded into action with two great tries from No 8 Joe Bearman and Wales centre Ashley Beck. Biggar converted both and suddenly it was 26-19 to the visitors moving into the final quarter.
The introduction of British & Irish Lions Adam Jones and Richard Hibbard made a massive impact on the Ospreys forward effort in the second half and they helped to keep Leinster at bay for long periods.
But the champions hit back with a try by prop Jack McGrath with 10 minutes to go and Gopperth’s conversion tied the scores at 26-26. An Ospreys indiscretion then allowed the New Zealander to take his match tally to 14 with a successful penalty four minutes from the end and it looked as though that was that.
But you can never write off the Ospreys and they mounted one final attack which earned them a penalty 30 metres out. Tito Tebaldi took it quickly, made some ground and earned a second penalty when the Leinster defenders didn’t retreat the full 10 metres.
Up stepped Biggar and over went another pressure goal from the cultured boot of the incumbent Welsh No 10
