Having trailed 18-6 at half-time, with two Jason Tovey penalties providing the only home points, the Dragons came out fired up for the second half and ran in four tries to bag two losing bonus points in a 37-32 defeat.
Victory sent the Chiefs into the final four of the tournament for the second year in a row and they left having scored five tries of their own. The final one was a penalty try clinched by their all-powerful scrum.
The Dragons now sit at the bottom of Pool 1 with only one win in the competition and with no chance of going any further.
Former Dragons centre Adam Hughes, Fetu’u Vainikolo and ex-Cardiff Blues wing Tom James all went over for first half tries for the visitors, before Sam Skinner’s score and a penalty try earned them a bonus point and a third successive victory..
The Dragons fought back in the closing stages to bring the gap to just five points as Cory Hill, Luc Jones, Scott Matthews and Jason Tovey crossed for tries.
