In a storming opening ten minutes of play Clermont bagged an early try as Mario Ledesma crossed the line. Brock James converted the effort for a seven point advantage. Before half an hour of play had elapsed Loic Jacquet improved the French lead to hand the visitors a 12-0 advantage at the interval.
James furthered this advantage with a penalty in the second minute of the second half and just minutes later crossed the whitewash himself for a 22-0 lead as he duly converted his own score.
Next over the line was promising youngster Anthony Floch, James again converted and was again successful at the posts on the 70 minute mark as he added the extras to Elvis Vermeulen’s try. Floch completed his brace in the dying minutes of the game to round off an emphatic win for Clermont, and a miserable night for the Scarlets’ supporters.
