The visitors looked largely untroubled as they dominated their regional rivals, outscoring them by five tries to one and the Blues’ bonus point win means they sit on top of the Magners league with nine points from a possible ten keeping confidence high that this could be the season the star-studded squad fulfil their potential.
Jamie Roberts, Rhys Williams and Tal Selley crossed in an impressive first 40 minutes from the visitors. Selley grabbed his second try after the break and Mark Lewis added the sixth late on, both converted by the excellent Nick Robinson. Richard Parks scored the home side’s only try, with the other points coming from the boot of Aled Thomas.
Parks worked hard and deserved his try, but his Dragons pack found themselves on the back foot too often to prevent the Blues from racking up an impressive score. With man-of-the-match Richie Rees marshalling the Blues, and his half-back partner Nicky Robinson using the ball to good effect, the Blues look like a strong and solid side. It was a marked improvement from the side of 18 months ago, which is when the Blues last beat a Welsh region on an away trip.
