The Welsh region looked to be destined for a share of the spoils after 80 minutes but they worked their way down field and match-day captain Justin Tipuric crashed over for a match-winning injury-time try.
They started the game brightly but it was the visitors that grabbed the game’s opening try through last season’s Magners League top try-scorer Tim Visser, after Richard Fussell failed to deal with a chip over the top, and Graig Laidlaw added the extras.
Rhys Webb hit-back within minutes, after darting through and fending away opposite number Laidlaw. Dan Bigger dissected the posts to level the scores and from there a battle of the boot ensued between the Ospreys fly-half and Laidlaw.
The duo continued to trade successful shots at goal and both sides were unable to break the deadlock.
That was until the 81st minute and Tipuric’s decisive try. After working their way down field, Andrew Bishop made major inroads before Richard Fussell fed Tipuric.
After squandering a first-half opportunity the Ospreys captain made no mistakes and crashed over for the crucial try.
