The home side went into a 12-0 first-half lead through tries by lock Rupert Cooper, who went over after 23 minutes, and then centre Heath Stevens just before the break when he charged down a kick.
Benham then cut the gap with his try with his try five minutes after the restart, but then Nottingham added a third try 10 minutes later through skipper Matt Everard. The conversion made it 19-5, but the Blues ended on a high with a late try through replacement Nick Griffiths.
