Nigel Davies’ men went into the clash on the back of four consecutive RaboDirect PRO12 defeats but they got back to winning ways at Parc y Scarlets.
They were dealt a blow before kick-off when Gareth Maule suffered an ankle injury during the warm up but replacement Adam Warren struck for a try in each half.
The 20-year-old grabbed his first try after Gregor Hunter’s kick was charged down. Aled Thomas added the extras and stretched the hosts lead to 13-0 minutes later.
Edinburgh hit back with a Greig Laidlaw penalty and a Tim Visser try. The scrum-half added a second penalty to bring the scores to 13-10 at the break.
But the Scarlets dominated the second-half with Warren and Richie Pugh crossing for tries.
The Scots hit back through Lee Jones but six minutes from time the Scarlets clinched the bonus-point try after Rhys Thomas burrowed over from close-range.
