ULSTERÂ 9 SCARLETS 16
Nigel Davies’ reign as Llanelli Scarlets coach got off to an impressive start at a weather-beaten Ravenhill on Friday night as 11 points from the boot of Stephen Jones, allied to a Darren Daniel try, saw them trump a disappointing Ulster side.
Ulster had the wind advantage in the first half but a Darren Daniel try helped the Welshmen to a 10-0 lead.
The hosts fought back and three Clinton Schifcofske penalties left just a point between the sides at the break.
The Scarlets took control with the wind at their backs in the second half and Stephen Jones converted two penalties to seal the win for the visitors.Â
Match-winning Stephen Jones said:Â “We’re delighted with that, we have a lot of respect for Ulster.
“It was an extremely physical game, you always expect that from Ulster, they are strong and efficient.
“Our forwards gave us a great platform, they let us get the ball out in front, play our game plan, and made it easier for the backs.”Â
