Manu used his 17-stone frame to barge over twice in the first half to get the Scarlets up and running and maintain their unbeaten start to the league season.
And flyers Jon Davies, Nathan Brew, Morgan Stoddart and Mark Jones provided the icing on the cake as the Scarlets romped to a third win in seven days.
It was a fitting display for the last league fixture to be played at the legendary ground, which they are due to vacate before Christmas. Then they will take up residency at the £45million Parc-y-Scarlets on the other side of town.
Connacht threatened to spoil the party when they took a shock early lead through Ian Keatley’s second-minute penalty. But it was plain sailing from then on for the Simon Easterby’s home side.
Llanelli’s summer may have been lit up by the capture of All Black prop Kees Meeuws, but it was another Kiwi prop – Manu – who did the damage to get the Scarlets 12-3 ahead by half time.
Theyi broke loose after the break with Jon Davies sparking the blitz after just two minutes. Brew latched onto David Lyon’s delivery to score the try of the day on 48 minutes after Stoddart had raced onto Easterby’s terrific off-load in midfield.
The final 20 minutes were all about man of the match Stoddart. The full-back saw Wales rival Lee Byrne shine in midweek but gave Warren Gatland a nudge with a blistering response. Stoddart strolled over for two tries, either side of Jones’ score, as Connacht ran out of gas.
Scarlets: Tries – D Manu (2), M Stoddart (2), J Davies, N Brew, M Jones. Cons – S Jones (5). Connacht: Pen – I Keatley.
