Chris Davey’s young dragons were out-scored by the Baby Blacks ten tries to three as the Kiwis pulled off a 73-19 victory. Wales U21 held their own in the opening stages and held off the challenge of their opponents for the first ten minutes before New Zealand U21 finally got points onto the scoreboard. Dusting themselves down, Wales U21 dug deep again for a second ten minute spell before conceding a second try.
However, a pattern was emerging with New Zealand U21 ripping into Wales U21’s defence at regular intervals. Corey Flynn, Jimmy Cowan and Sam Tuitapou each produced a brace of tries with Thomas Waldron, Angus McDonald and Rhyan Caine adding singles scores plus a penalty try to boot. Luke McAllister, Daniel Carter and Flynn shared out the conversions of all the tries between them.
Wales U21 managed to get onto the scoreboard and into the match during a second half purple-patch, Mike Phillips, Nicky Robinson and Ceiron Jones wading in with three tries for the young dragons in total.
