Alec Evans
Head Coach
Alex Evans was the Wales National Coach during the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Evans took over as caretaker coach following the departure of Alan Davies, eight weeks before the tournament began.
Evans, an Australian, became the first non-Welshman to coach Wales when Davies and his immediate coaching staff stood down, after the 1995 Five Nations whitewash. Evans, the Cardiff RFC coach at the time, guided Wales through a miserable Rugby World Cup campaign and a subsequent test match against South Africa before being replaced by Kevin Bowring.
Following his coaching days at Cardiff RFC, Evans had a spell at Queensland Reds, as Scrum Technical Advisor. He joined the Australian coaching team as technical advisor in preparation for their 2007 Rugby World Cup campaign.
