Matt Sherratt
Head coach
The Cardiff Rugby head coach took up the Wales head coach role for the final three rounds of the 2025 Guinness Six Nations after Warren Gatland left the role after two opening defeats to France and Italy in the championship.
Sherratt was born in Gloucester and raised within a long drop kick of Kingsholm. After graduating from the University of Gloucestershire he started his working life as a primary school teacher before moving into rugby coaching at community level at the RFU in 2005.
After a year as a development coach at England Rugby he spent almost five years as an academy coach at Worcester Warriors before becoming backs coach at Bristol Bears. He also worked with Gloucester Rugby EPDG, Gloucestershire and Cheltenham.
After another five year stint he joined Cardiff Blues as backs and attack coach in 2016. Rob Howley took him into the Wales set-up as an assistant coach for the 2017 summer tour to face Tonga and Samoa.
After his return he joined Ospreys as backs coach and he ended his time at the Swansea.Com Stadium as interim head coach following the departure of Allen Clark before heading back to Worcester as backs coach at the start of the 2020-21 season.
He returned to Cardiff in 2023 and became interim head coach on the departure of Dai Young before taking over the job full-time. Last week he signed a long-term contract extension.
