Ryan completed his BSc in Sports Science at Glyndwr University in 2008 before going on to complete a strength and conditioning internship with the Wales national squad in 2009/2010.
During 2010/2011 he held sport science and strength and conditioning roles at both the Scarlets and with the national squad before being appointed as a sport scientist for the Welsh Rugby Union in 2011/2012.
