This section is dedicated to the men and boys that play our game.

Our game is played in our clubs, our community, our schools and higher educational establishments.

We have a dedicated pathway for our players to excel.

Our mission is ‘To develop more and better players for the game and for Wales through life enriching experiences’. 

Meet The Team

Please find below the list of Welsh Rugby Union community regional rugby officers for the men and boys game.

Ospreys 

Stefan Andrews – Sandrews@wru.wales

Stef covers the East of the Ospreys region (District D) his lead work in the region is  – Junior cup competitions – Rugby in Education, Emerging player programme and Dewar Shield along with the East Development Second league.

Gethin Robinson  – Grobinson@wru.wales

Gethin covers the West of the region (District E & F) his lead work on the region is Youth Cup competitions, Youth to senior rugby transition, Delivery of the #youthrugbyrising programme.

They both jointly lead on the following: Emerging player programs (EPP’s), Dewar shield, junior to youth & youth to senior rugby transition and hub program management.

Cardiff Rugby 

Ioan Rhys Evans – ievans@wru.wales

Ioan covers the North of the Cardiff Rugby Region (District C). His lead areas of work in the region are: Junior cup competitions, Rugby in education, Junior to youth rugby transition, Second/Athletic XV rugby.

Mike Connor – mconnor@wru.wales

Mike covers the South of the Cardiff Rugby Region (District B). His lead area of work in the region are: Youth leagues, Youth competitions, Youth to Senior rugby transition.

They both jointly lead on the following: Emerging player programs (EPP’s), Dewar Shield and hub program management.

RGC

Dafydd Roberts – dafydd.roberts@wru.wales.

Dafydd geographically covers North West Wales and leads on Rugby in Education and Community Club competitions throughout North Wales.

Alex Jones – ajones@wru.wales.

Alex geographically covers North East Wales and leads on Youth Rugby and Fit Fed and Fun camps throughout North Wales.

David Higgs – dhiggs@wru.wales.

Dai geographically covers the South of North Wales Region and leads on Senior Male Game, Transition from youth to senior rugby and Emerging Player Pathway (EPP) throughout North Wales.

All Rugby Officers lead jointly on the following: Emerging Player Programmes (EPP’s), Dewar shield, junior to youth & youth to senior rugby transition and hub programme management within their respective areas.

Dragons

Chris Cornford – cornford@wru.wales

Chris covers the East (Gwent Borough) of the Dragons Rugby Region (District A). His lead area of work in the region are: Youth leagues, Youth competitions, Youth to Senior rugby transition, Fit, Fed and Fun camps, Junior cup competitions, Rugby in education, Second/Athletic XV rugby.

Ashley Sweet – asweet@wru.wales

Ashley covers the West (Caerphilly Borough) of the Dragons Rugby Region (District A & C). His lead area of work in the region are: Youth leagues, Youth competitions, Youth to Senior rugby transition, Fit, Fed and Fun camps, Junior cup competitions, Rugby in education, Second/Athletic XV rugby.

They both jointly lead on the following: Emerging player programs (EPP’s), Dewar shield, junior to youth & youth to senior rugby transition and hub program management.

Scarlets 

Mike king – Mking@wru.wales

Mike covers the County of Pembrokeshire (District H) of the Scarlets Region.

His lead area of work in the region are: Youth leagues, Youth competitions, Youth to Senior rugby transition, Junior cup competitions, Rugby in education, Second XV rugby.

Richard Hardy – Rhardy@wru.wales

Richard covers Carmarthenshire within the Scarlets Region (District F/G).

His lead area of work in the region are: Youth leagues, Youth competitions, Youth to Senior rugby transition, Junior cup competitions, Rugby in education, Second XV rugby.

Justin Lloyd – Jlloyd@wru.wales

Justin covers Ceredigion and Carmarthen Town within the Scarlets Region (District G/H)

His lead area of work in the region are: Youth leagues, Youth competitions, Youth to Senior rugby transition, Junior cup competitions, Rugby in education, Second XV rugby.
