Ford played all of his earlier rugby for Senghenydd RFC before joining Newbridge as a 14-year-old. He then went back to Senghenydd to play his Youth rugby,
He also played for Coleg Gwent in the Welsh Schools & Colleges League. He played for Dragons U18s before having a short stint in the Indigo Premiership with Bridgend Ravens.
He then headed to north Wales after former Dragons boss Ceri Jones invited him to play for RGC in the Indigo Premiership.
He has also played rugby league, turning out for Wales age grade and Salford Red Devils Academy.
