Ospreys midfielder Tiaan Thomas-Wheeler believes the hard earned win against hosts Argentina in the opening round of the U20 World Rugby Championship stands his side in good stead for tomorrow’s crucial clash against France.

Wales came out on top with a thrilling victory against Argentina after overcoming stubborn opposition and a passionate crowd.

“We had five weeks of looking at Argentina but now it’s all about getting the boys recovered and ready to face France,” said Thomas-Wheeler.

“We knew they were going to be passionate, especially out here. They were definitely a physical team but I think the boys fronted up really well and I think things are looking good at the minute.”

One of Wales’ try-scorers was Thomas-Wheeler’s roommate Ryan Conbeer who showed his trademark pace of the mark to catch the young Pumas off guard and score at a pivotal time of the match.

“It’s definitely good to see Ryan get that try – I haven’t heard the end of it since but it was a good individual try and things like that you need to win those sorts of games. He’s seen the gap and gone for it and backed himself and that is definitely an ethos we’ve had – just backing our ability.

“After our result against Argentina we are in a good place and if we just keep looking after ourselves and get our processes right I think we are in a good place.”
